ARTIST STATEMENT
I am greatly moved by large sweeping panoramas of earth, water and sky as this
is the essence of our spirituality. The perfect gifts of the Creator and my internal
vision of spirituality are the basis of my work. There is an eternal solitary exploration of these visual subjects with brush palette and canvas.
ARTISTIC BACKGROUND
From 1963 to 1968 I was instructed by Leon Manuel who had painted extensively
with the Group of Seven.
From 1966 to 1968 I was instructed by Evan Boston who was at that time the
Artistic Director of the Queen Elizabeth Playhouse Theatre in Vancouver.
From 1997 to 1999 inclusive I attended workshops taught by well known maritime artist Sandi Komst. During 1999 I also took instruction from Joe Collins who is an acclaimed Canadian portrait painter.
I enjoy working with oil, acrylic and mixed media.
I have participated in numerous group shows and have had a number of solo shows.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
I was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia where I was surrounded by gorgeous scenery and vibrant colours. My Dad, William J. Taylor was a painter, sculptor and potter. My love of the arts date back to my early childhood and I have always known that I wanted to be an artist. It has been my greatest pleasure to study with some brilliant and talented artists in classical maritime and modern Canadian genres.
My husband and I spent six wonderful years living on Prince Edward Island, where we experienced the Island kindness and hospitality. Prince Edward Island is a treasure trove of scenic delights. To paint there is indeed an artist's dream due to the never ending stunning scenery, gorgeous rich colours, and wonderful light.
I am most fortunate in that I have a very loving supportive husband who also appreciates the beauty of nature and we can always be found exploring beaches and rural areas together.
Currently I am residing in Toronto, Ontario.
